Success Story: Mercedez

Aug 24, 2020 | 0 comments

Mercedez first came to us as a 30 year old woman interested in boosting her self-confidence.

As a person with hearing and visual impairments, mental health and cognitive challenges, she had previously dealt with a great deal of bullying, and hoped that engaging in programming would not only help her to learn more about herself, but would also help her to overcome her trust issues and past trauma.

“I feel an incredible difference in myself”

-Mercedez

Mercedez proved herself to be thoughtful, cheerful, and very capable. Not only did she participate in class, she made sure that other new-comers felt welcome and comfortable, and also volunteered her time with our 100% Store entrepreneurial initiative,  making handmade products to sell, and demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills and confidence as a sales person at our holiday pop-up shop.

“I feel an incredible difference in myself” She shared with us when she completed programming. We saw it too, and believe she’ll shine wherever she goes.
