One Step Closer
With a focus on building self-confidence, identifying personal strengths, and managing stress and conflict through engaging and interactive workshops, our three week long One Step Closer program sets participants up for success in their personal relationships, mental health, and future goals.
One Step Closer is recommended for anyone who is 18 years old and up and looking for support in getting started, or restarting.
Clients will meet with their facilitator one-on-one at the halfway point to check-in on how they are doing with the program, and what is standing out to them. This is to help us better understand and accommodate our clients and their needs.
As with all reachAbility client programs, there is no cost to participate.

One Step Closer Off-Site
reachAbility’s current outreach and on-the-road programs include the Atlantic Community Shelters Society (ACSS) pallet shelters and tiny homes, Nova Scotia Health’s Early Psychosis Program (NSEPP), and the Alderney Gate Public Library. With these partnerships, we are able to bring our programs to the community and meet people where they are, removing barriers to access.
One Step Closer on-the-road provides the same content as our in-office program, but at varying locations in HRM to provide other areas an opportunity to access the program.
Have any suggestions on locations to hold One Step Closer Off-Site? We would love to hear from you!
“Here I have found a safe, non-judgmental place to do the critical work on myself, to rebuild my confidence and my coping skills. ReachAbility is a safe place to fall and begin to figure out how to get back up again, stronger and with long-term support.
I think of One Step Closer as a toolkit to give yourself a chance. Even when you feel there may be no chances or path forward available to you. ReachAbility is a truly unique environment, one completely free of stigma and judgement.
“I have learned new ways to view and plan my goals as systems that don’t feel overwhelming. It was a fresh reminder of how communication skills affect all aspects of my life and how to identify and respond using passive, aggressive, and assertive communication skills and active listening.”
“Thanks to the class I was totally able to find a better way to address things and make it work for me by using better coping skills”
