The following entry was written by E.D., a reachAbility employment client, as part of our 2024 annual general meeting report:
“It was obvious from the jump that reachAbility was different from the other resources I had accessed. From the moment I first connected with reachAbility the warmth and professionalism of the staff inspired confidence in the organization. Upon arriving at their doors in person everything from the office environment itself to the friendly and welcoming attitude of every single staff member immediately demonstrated their thoughtful attention to detail and considerate nature. That consideration and mindfulness for their clients and their needs is the true strength at the heart of their success as an organization.
The welcoming and supportive nature fostered genuine feelings of security. Their steadfast encouragement helped to enable true engagement with the programs they offer. I personally experienced and witnessed other clients lowering their defenses and opening themselves to growth and change. The staff are true allies who have exceptional skill in finding and drawing out their clients skills and gently guiding them on a path to discovering and buying-in to their own value as individuals and to prospective employers.
The team at reachAbility have an amazing level of commitment to accommodating every individual’s needs. This support and reassurance helps to make the transition into program participation as smooth and easy as possible. The environment of patience and thoughtful consideration helped to minimize any anxieties I had regarding the programs, allowing me to find comfort in the knowledge that they would remain committed to helping me on my personal journey, regardless of my current needs or limitations. This easy atmosphere, relieved of the stress of pressure, helped enormously to reduce my anxiety and enabled me to comfortably make progress and increase my confidence.
I was continually impressed by the high levels of skill the entire staff has demonstrated at navigating the delicate balance of providing mental health support and employment search support simultaneously. The staff at reachAbility have made me feel seen and valued as a human being, and helped me see and appreciate my own skills and personal value. The staff act with great empathy and consideration for their clients personal boundaries and limitations. Weighing them against client goals and needs in order to determine the best actions to take in order to create momentum and self-confidence, without pushing them beyond their comfort level.
reachAbility employs a focus on identifying and pursuing any actions that can be taken immediately and will generate the most possible benefit in order to manifest energy and inertia of forward momentum towards a clients goals. These successes help to raise self-confidence levels and encourage the clients investment in their own progress, further generating their own momentum. This enables an efficient use of resources in order to maximize the cost to benefit ratio of their use. This diligent use of resources combined with their knowledge of other resources available beyond their own doors has benefited me enormously and helped me make progress towards my own goals with surprising speed.
I feel a huge personal appreciation for their generosity, warmth, understanding, and total lack of judgement for helping me make substantial progress towards my own career goals in a short period of time. I will forever be grateful for them.”
